Backpack Securities belongs in this map because it shows the exchange-integrated version of tokenized equities: the user experience can combine account infrastructure, RFQ execution, spot markets, and security-specific trading sessions. That is different from simply holding a freely transferable token in a wallet.
The product boundary
Backpack’s official API docs describe a securities endpoint for tradable instruments and market sessions. Stock RFQs use quotes from the exchange/broker flow during open sessions; certain listed stocks also have spot order-book markets, while some trade exclusively through RFQ.
What to verify before using Backpack Securities
whether the instrument is RFQ-only or also has a spot order book;
current market sessions, holidays, quantity constraints, and fees;
account, KYC, custody, geographic, and security eligibility;
whether you receive a tokenized security, an exchange balance, or another claim;
how transfers, withdrawals, corporate actions, and market closures work.
Backpack's current API documentation describes stock RFQ trading during market sessions and spot order-book markets for certain listed stocks, with security and session data exposed through its APIs.
Is Backpack's stock product the same as self-custody DeFi?
No. The exchange account, broker/RFQ flow, market session, and security-specific rules create a different custody and execution model from a permissionless token traded directly from a wallet.
