Paradex is a Starknet-based perp venue with unified margin and two order paths: Retail and Pro. This page owns the perpetuals decision; the Paradex options review covers dated-option settlement, options margin, and RFQ mechanics.
Your order method affects fees, limits, speed, and available liquidity. Choose the order path before comparing costs.
Paradex’s perp product is shaped by order lane and shared margin
Paradex lists perpetuals alongside dated options, spot, and pre-markets. For perps, the important choice is the order lane and the way positions share a unified margin account; product-specific options settlement belongs in the options review.
The broad product set is useful, but fees and risks depend on both the product and order path.
Retail and Pro orders change the fee and execution answer
Paradex classifies orders by how they are submitted. UI and interactive API orders can receive Retail treatment. Standard API orders default to Pro treatment.
Retail orders have the documented zero-fee treatment and Retail Price Improvement, but lower limits and speed constraints. Pro orders remove those limits and use a separate fee schedule.
Retail orders are zero-fee; Pro orders are not
Current documentation lists 0% maker and taker fees for Retail orders across perps, spot, and options. Pro orders have a separate schedule, including a listed 0.003% maker fee and volume-based taker fees.
Zero fees do not mean zero cost. Include spread, price impact, funding, liquidation, and withdrawal conditions.
Perp traders still need to check market and liquidation mechanics
Before trading perps, check the mark-price and oracle design, funding interval, maintenance margin, liquidation trigger, bridge path, and withdrawal process. Unified margin can connect the result of one position to collateral supporting another, so the account-level risk matters more than the headline fee.
XP should not decide whether you trade
Paradex’s XP documentation says Season 3 is live with 4,000,000 XP distributed weekly on Wednesdays and that the new system is rolling out with updated rules. It gives the season a February 1, 2026 start date with no stated end date. Check eligibility, dilution, and activity cost before trading for XP; the reward system does not remove market or execution risk.
Who Paradex perps fit
Paradex perps are worth investigating when you care about unified margin, Retail Price Improvement, or an API path with distinct Pro execution behavior. Start with the Perp DEX Rankings, then compare the live fee schedule and order classification to your actual UI, interactive API, or standard API workflow.
When Paradex is a poor fit
Skip Paradex until you know which order class your workflow creates and how that changes fees, rate limits, queue priority, and liquidity access. Also skip any XP strategy that cannot show a current official rule, a defined stop condition, and a cost model that remains acceptable if XP has no announced conversion or if the program changes.
Risks specific to Paradex
Paradex combines derivatives risk with Starknet and Paradex Chain risk. Unified margin can connect losses across positions.
Options add oracle and TWAP settlement risk. Retail and Pro flows also execute differently. Read current margin, liquidation, bridge, security, and withdrawal documentation before moving collateral.
What to verify before trading
Check the official trading overview, fee schedule, Retail and Pro order rules, XP page, and referral documentation. XP, referrals, fee discounts, and token allocations are not guaranteed value.
